Threenody: Death of A Southeast Division
A threnody is a poem of remembrance.
A Threenody is a poem of goodbye that parodies a much better poem. See the Central Division entry here.
With help from Randall Jarrell, the Winnipeg Jets say goodbye to the Southeast Division.
From Atlanta’s deep I fell into the South,
And hunched in Manitoba, till my Jet shirt froze.
Thousand miles from Caps. Loosed from Florida’s sun.
I woke to ninth place, and the nightmare finishes.
When it died they dragged me out of the Southeast by my nose.
