For the third time, Nashville and St. Louis — inauguraters of the Belt — square off for the strap. Both previous meetings were won by St. Louis; indeed, the Blues have lost but once in Conference III, a shootout loss to Winnipeg. Their current run with the Belt is now at 68 days, having won it December 28.

With Pekka Rinne’s return and Ryan Miller’s trade in to the Blues, both teams come in confident in their goaltending.

St. Louis, should the Blues retain, will have to defend the Belt repeatedly in the next week. If they win tonight, they’ll next defend the Belt Saturday against Colorado. If Nashville wrests away the strap, the defense will come March 14 in Chicago.
